From electric cars to BBQs, Element exemplifies the sharing economy.
We strongly believe in the sharing economy and its major role in our futures. That's why Element is built with efficient, convenient, and responsible sharing in mind.
1. SOLAR-POWERED Electric carshare.
As an Element Urban Villager, you will have access to a shared electric car—a BMW i3 to be exact—that is charged with solar energy. Protect the environment and feel good about ditching your second car—with your new active lifestyle and shops a short walk away, you won't need it. Supplement the occasional needed car trip with your new maintenance-free, emissions-free, guilt-free Element Electric.

2. SHARED, SEMI-PRIVATE COURTYARD.
The area between the two buildings constituting Phase II is designed as a beautiful and intimate shared courtyard space. Removed from the view of the street yet highly visible from all Phase II and most Phase I units, this semi-private space will foster community ownership and a sense of neighbourly cohesion based on the principles of defensible space and "eyes-on-the-street."
3. COMMUNITY BARBECUE.
Food is the great equalizer. Anchoring the courtyard will be a shared outdoor cooking area, featuring a Weber Gas BBQ and Traegar Pellet Smoker. One luxury outdoor kitchen shared between all Villagers is a far better use of space than 11 household barbecues, and—more importantly—provides a platform for the communal, primal enjoyment of food and cooking. Sell your barbecue before you move in and use the proceeds to host a big picnic for your new neighbours—you'll never miss an invite to a dinner party again.
Element's Electric Car Share Program
Completely carbon neutral, from source to "tailpipe." Feel good about—and have a blast driving—your mean, green new cruisin' machine.
Whether you're cruising for pleasure or just for groceries, your new all-electric BMW i3 represents a forward step in both the sharing economy and the clean energy revolution. As an Element Urban Villager, you are part of the solution.
At Shift, we've expressed our passions for the sharing economy at length in the past. Now, we're helping to bring it to life in Riversdale by undertaking a radical experiment at Element Urban Village: an electric carshare program charged by the sun.
Element provides the perfect setting for such an experiment in sustainability. Its ideal location allows you the opportunity to live an urban lifestyle with minimal dependence on a vehicle. However, Riversdale lacks an available carsharing program, so instead of waiting for one to happen, we decided to do it ourselves.
Speaking of inevitable, electric vehicles are without a doubt part of the future. We're offering you the chance to experience the benefits of an electric vehicle firsthand without the burden of buying one yourself. Ditch your second car—or even your first—and feel good about being part of the solution with the Element electric carshare.
This ain't your grandma's Prius, either. There's a reason we chose the BMW i3. It's not a great car despite being electric—it's a great car because it's electric. It's the BMW of electric vehicles.
Not only is it a zippy, responsive, solid pleasure to drive, but the build quality is remarkably green as well. BMW's own estimate is that up to 95% of the car is constructed from recyclable materials. From carbon fibre to bamboo to recycled interior finishes, this surprising little vehicle is likely among the most environmentally responsible in history.
We're absolutely stoked about this car. And we can't wait to show you why. Want to go for a ride? Let us know. It's got to be experienced to be believed.

Psst! Shift is also exploring the possibility of developing a larger electric carshare program based out of Riversdale and shared between key local businesses and organizations, such as The Two Twenty. If you'd like to know more about this, click here and sign up using the form at the bottom. We're working on this behind the scenes and we'll be in touch.
